Amplex technicians are often asked what e-mail client is the best. While each person is unique and some clients may suit one person better then another there are two recommendations we have for desktop and laptop computers.
The best e-mail may be to simply use the free Amplex Webmail program at https://webmail.amplex.net. While this client won’t load automatically or send you notifications when you receive a new message it is one of the easiest to use and Amplex maintains and supports it. To login simply type your e-mail address in the username box and your password in the password box then click Login.
The e-mail client provided by Mozilla, the makers of the Firefox web browser, is well designed, cross platform (windows, mac and unix clients) and best of all, free. Once you install and open Thunderbird for the first time you’ll be walked through setting up your account. If you need more help, there is a Thunderbird E-mail Setup article here.
What about my phone/tablet?
Phones and tablets are each unique and often the built in client has the most broad support. When setting up your phone or tablet if you are asked what your e-mail account type is choose IMAP as this type stores your messages on Amplex servers and allows you to check e-mail from multiple devices easily. If you already have other e-mail clients configured as POP3 you may want to choose POP3 but be careful as POP3 usually downloads messages to your phone or device so you likely want to select “do not delete messages from server” or “leave messages on server” when selecting POP3.
